Co-curator, Sarah Feuillas, Surrounded, solo exhibition, artconnexion, Lille, France [Open Call to Young Curators]

In November 2016, artconnexion in Lille hosted Surrounded, the first solo exhibition by artist Sarah Feuillas in the city. Organised by curators Amanda Ariawan, Barbara Decrock, and Pauline Ozon from the University of Lille's Master ARTS program, the exhibition examines the relationship between housing, architecture, and human behavior. Sarah Feuillas investigates the relationship between architecture and human experience through photography and sculpture, focusing on how constructed spaces shape behavior, interactions, and thought processes. With a keen awareness of space and the environment, her work explores housing and the ways in which human-designed structures, in turn, influence daily life and social dynamics.

About Sarah Feuillas

Born in Paris in 1987, Sarah Feuillas graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2011, the same year she was awarded the Bernar Venet sculpture prize by the Amis des Beaux Arts. Sensitive to the perception of spaces and the environment, she develops photographic and sculptural work around the habitat and the act of construction. She produces a series of photographs of buildings in sensitive areas, places that are often the scars of a project that is no longer relevant.
