In 2019, Wei-Ling Contemporary presented a new media titled Paralogical Machines: When Images Meet Us in Space and Time as their first exhibition of the year. With the support of the Goethe Institut, the Centre for Research-Creation in Digital Media at the School of Arts at Sunway University, and Pro-Helvetia, Paralogical Machines exhibited internationally-known European and Southeast Asian artists. With the belief that art must be conversational in order to be and stay significant, the works in Paralogical Machines expect to engage with us in our world, and propose relevant questions rather than explanations, providing a space for dialogue between the artworks, the viewers, and beyond it.
As a Gallery Associate/Assistant Curator of Paralogical Machines, Amanda worked closely with the curator and liaised with the artist. Her role ensured smooth exhibition planning, supported the alignment of artistic vision with research-driven insights for a thoughtful and cohesive curation, and managed the technical aspects of the exhibition with an experimental, critical, and inclusive approach, fostering engaging and meaningful experiences and dialogues around contemporary art.
