In January 2024, the Australian Consortium for ‘In-Country’ Indonesian Studies (ACICIS) hosted a seminar as part of its Creative Arts and Design Professional Practicum Program (CADPP). During the session, Amanda reflected on her curatorial journey and the significance of remaining attuned to emerging issues and trends in contemporary art. Drawing from her experiences curating projects in Indonesia, Malaysia, and virtual spaces, she offered insights shaped by her academic background and personal motivations for entering the field. Her presentation was structured around three key subtopics: Curating and Cultural Programming in Indonesia: Local, Global & Identity Issues; Gallery Practice: Navigating Regional & International Collaborations; and Curating On the Net: Creating Digital Platforms, Mapping, and Cataloguing Digital Art in Southeast Asia. Amanda highlighted how understanding current issues, trends, and dynamics in art and curating informs her evolving practice. She also talked about her recent interest in arts and technology which she explores through her digital projects, exhibitions, and writings.
